What a “red flag” means here
The scoring system on this site is precautionary. A red flag does not mean an ingredient has been shown to be harmful under normal use. It means the ingredient adds little to oral health while raising questions some people would rather avoid. That distinction is deliberate and it runs through everything published here.
Fluoride
Fluoride is a mainstream anti-cavity ingredient with strong evidence behind it and it is never scored down on this site. Choosing to avoid it is a personal decision, not a safety finding.
